Hawthorn Leaf – 50g

For Teas, Remedies and Dye (pale yellow, best combined with berries)

Hawthorn Leaf: The young leaves and flower buds, which are also edible, are known as “bread and cheese” in rural England. In many traditional medicines, hawthorn berries are used for certain psychological conditions, including stress, anxiety and even depression.

The flowers, leaves and fruits of the Hawthorn have properties that help to regulate blood pressure and stimulate the heart, as well as act as a mild sedative and an antioxidant. The flowers are strongest as sedatives, and used externally can help acne and skin blemishes. Hawthorn Leaf has the highest antioxidant action. The berries (also known as “Pixie Pears”) contain Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C. They can be crushed and used to ease diarrhoea, dysentery, and be beneficial to the kidneys.
